"Use What Was Used Against You!"

Wednesday, June 27, 2012  The title used is the result of watching Bishop Timothy Clark at the Potters House on Sunday, June 24, 2012.  I Kings 15:16-22

I was compelled to go to the internet and watch last Sunday's sermon from Bishop T. D. Jakes and he Pottershouse.  First the Praise and Worship Team Leader blew me away with his testimony of what happened to him on Father's Day after church at dinner.  He shared how the doctors had just taken him off of steroids for a shoulder injury and unaware that his blood pressure dropped very low.  He explained how he took his blood pressure medicine and the paramedics could hardly find a pulse.  He told his wife how he "loved" her because he thought that he was about to leave this world.  To GOD be the glory he was revived and shared how the devil thought he had him but GOD SAID NO!

I share his testimony because of my own near death experience related to blood pressure in November of 2007.  For days I had a blood pressure of 256/190 and the doctors could not get it to come down.  On about the forth day of this GOD asked me a question.  "Who is your source, now?"  Tears were rolling down my face and I replied, "It's you Lord, nobody but you!"   The doctors were confused and drastically trying to get it down and with these type of numbers for that length of time, I should be a recovering STROKE patient.  But GOD IS AMAZING!  This event occurred shortly after sharing my story for the first time.  The devil tried to kill me.  I was not afraid to let people know what I had gone through any longer!  FREED BY GOD!

However, the reason for this blog is to testify how it is IMPORTANT to remember that the word comes from GOD's annointed vessels and it was not Bishop Jakes today.  Often times I am in discussions with people that disagree with hearing another minister if the Pastor is not preaching.  Why would you do that, first of all?  Secondly, do you not believe that GOD can send a word through anyone HE chooses?

Upon realizing that it was not Bishop Jakes I sat back and waited for Bishop Clark to get started.  He directed those of us watching at home to get your bible and come with him to I Kings 15: 16-22.  He proceeded to read the scriptures and then he gave his title: "USE WHAT WAS USED AGAINST YOU!" HALLELUJAH!  My spirit leaped and I knew this was going to be a word straight from heaven for me.

There were points that really stood out in his message regarding our history and everyone has history.  The enemy can often try to use your history to discourage, stir fear, doubtfulness, and anxiety about some things that GOD has told you to do.  There are things that happens in our life that cause pain, disappointment, disbelief and disheartened.  However, those very things can be used for the kingdom and bless someone else to be delivered from bondage.    History tells us who we are, where you have come from, and what you have been THROUGH!  The blessing is in looking back to who you were, where you came from and what GOD has DELIVERED YOU FROM!

We must never deny our history because it is OUR story.  There are those of us who have gone through some painful things and wonder why did GOD allow them to happen to us, for me I was quickly corrected and told that what I went through was not about ME!  Ouch!  By the way.....hear what thus saith the LORD and not the man! Amen  If I had turned away from the sermon I would have missed an incredible word of ENCOURAGEMENT!

When I went through my experience of domestic violence it really hurt me because I felt that it should not have happened to me.  I was really in a good place with my relationship with GOD and trying to live a good life.  However, the relationship I was in was not of GOD......hhhmmmm.  However, in my place of brokenness and repentance GOD said to me that it was not about me.  It gave me a totally different perspective of why I had the experience.  Today, out of that pain is Angels In Distress, Inc. "Transition from Domestic Violence" designed to bring awareness and prevention of domestic abuse and violence.  I never in my wildest dreams would have seen me as a Radio Host having weekly shows on domestic abuse and violence taking awareness and prevention around the WORLD!  GOD has allowed me to speak on Perspectives TV about domestic violence with Dr. Rondrick Williamson.  I think about how I was trying to get on television shows in the metropolitan Atlanta area and no response, GOD takes me to Middle Georgia and what a blessing.

Certified Domestic Instructor, Motivational Speaker, Counselor and Encourager these are the talents I have that GOD has given to go into the community and the world and bring awareness of a potential abuser whether they are male or female.  My charge is to help somebody, anybody identify the "red flags" and prevent on the front side awareness that will protect one from an abuser and/or abusive relationship.

There are so many people walking around daily asking, "how did I get here?"  What could I have done differently to avoid this abuse?  Pay attention to your "spirit" man it will talk to you not always in LOUD revelations but sometimes a small still voice, or the touch of someone else and your soul shudders to their touch.  This is telling you to RUN, RUN, RUN!  It is not safe!

I am a survivor of domestic violence and will use what happened to me to help someone AVOID it happening to them.  Thus the relevance:  "Use What Was Used Against You!"
